Instincts.

On the drive home from work, I saw a Toyota Prius with a "Power to the Peaceful" bumpersticker. My first reaction was that the driver of that car must be a complete space cadet. Someone who has no concept of reality. I'm pro-peace. I'm pro-environment. But I guarantee I am not pro-the-person-driving-that-car. I have instincts about these things. Am I wrong?

No...I think your instincts are working. Kind of like Dennis Kucinich saying that if he's elected President, he will have a Department of Peace.

whew! I think I can smell the patchouli from here...

Actually, I've come to really appreciate the midwestern Liberal. A lot of the left-wingers out here are opinionless, directionless... both unaffected and ineffectual. They're only "liberal" because everyone else is, and they don't really seat themselves in their beliefs because no one ever challenges them. They're lazy... just like midwestern conservatives! It's despicable.

Anyway, it takes a lot of strength to go against the grain. Is your little friend in the Prius a total fruit loop? probably. But I'd take her, and her Birkenstocks and her granola and her solar-powered bio-dome house any day.
